The Newlyweds in Springbank Park, London, Ontario (June 28, 1975) Posted by Hello

30 Years Ago Today!

If you were born before 1976, how would you answer the question, "What were you doing exactly 30 years ago today?" Our answer? It was a hot summer Saturday in London, Ontario. The London Free Methodist Church was full. One of the groomsmen keeled over during the ceremony. The letters, "H-E-L-P" were written on the bottoms of my (Glenn's) shoes as we knelt for prayer. We posed for seemed like a million photographs. We took off in our 1968 Chevy Impala convertible to begin our lives together. That's right, it's our 30th wedding anniversary today. GG

(left to right) Ron Bonar, Max Hamel, Rebecca Gibson, and Glenn Gibson after the Waterloo 10K Classic Race today. Posted by Hello

This morning, I completed the Waterloo 10 K Classic Race in 1:03:57! That's within four minutes of my goal for 2005 of doing a 10 K race in under an hour. My running mates did better than me -- my son-in-law, Max Hamel, covered the ground in 50:56 and our daughter, Rebecca, came in at 56:26. My friend, Ron Bonar, was timed at 56:44. More info and photos to come later! GG Posted by Hello

Big Race Attracts Participants!

Sunday's "10 K Classic" Race has attracted two more runners! Joining the group at the starting line will be the newlywed groom, Max Hamel, and his wife, Dr. Rebecca Gibson. They are just back from their honeymoon trip to New York City. "We haven't run this past week," stated the recent bride. "But we're ready to go and looking forward to the race." A very nice Father's Day brunch is planned following the ambulatory exercions. GG

The Big Race -- This Sunday!

After almost 8 months of training, the big race is here. This Sunday, I'm running in the Waterloo Classic 10 K Race (for more info, click here http://www.runwaterloo.com/10k/waterloo10kclassic.html). Joining me for the run will be my friend (and "Church Planting Canada" executive member), Ron Bonar. My audacious goal is completing it in under an hour, but I'll be happy to finish in less than 70 minutes for my first race. "Will you post a picture after the race?", asked one of my friends. "Yes," was my reply. "It will show one of the three things -- a casket, an ambulance, or the finish line!" On a more serious note, I feel like I'll be ready and am looking forward to an exhilarating experience of fulfilling a promise to myself and those who have been encouraging me in reaching my fitness goals. Glenn talking about church planting with Bob Logan at the Ontario Planting Symposium (not about moving the piano!). Posted by Hello

Viewing the Provincial Church Planting Harvest

Happy and relieved is the best way to describe how I feel today after yesterday's "First Annual Ontario Church Planting Catalyzer's Symposium" held just south of Guelph. Happy -- because 82 people attended and provided enthusiastic feedback about how helpful it was. Happy -- because Bob Logan, the guest presenter (www.coachnet.org), provided engaging and helpful materials for planting leaders from 11 denominations. Relieved -- because it's over and I survived. I'm not sure that it was all that good for my health and sanity to facilitate an event like that just days after a family wedding. Thanks for those who prayed for the symposium. I think a lot of key people now have a greater vantage point on the church planting harvest in Ontario and Quebec. May that translate into planning and planting in the months ahead! GG

Yesterday's wedding of our daughter, Rebecca, to Max Hamel in Ottawa was a beautiful day! Thanks to all who prayed for us and them. We're heading home today after a brunch hosted in Aylmer, QC by Max's aunt, Jeannine. Feel free to leave a greeting for Max and Rebecca! Posted by Hello
