Thanks to my "Key Contributors"!

Because of the generosity of those who responded to our "Key Contributor" Campaign in the last 60 days, Glenn now has a new Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook computer for use in his ministry with Outreach Canada. One unforeseen expense connected with obtaining this new tool was having to install seatbelts on his office chair. "This computer is FAST!!" was his comment after using it for the first time. Thanks to all who made this wonderful gift possible! Posted by Picasa

Five Runners After 5 K

Here's the intrepid "Team Gibson" that ran the St. Patrick's Day 5 K Run in Burlington, ON. From left to right, they include David McCann (Brossard, QC), Jared Siebert (Guelph, ON), Glenn Gibson (Kitchener, ON), Paul Gibson (Kitchener, ON), and Maxime Hamel (Sudbury, ON). The finishing order was PG, MH, GG, JS, DM. For post race comments, click on the following names: Paul Gibson, Jared Siebert, Dave McCann, and Glenn Gibson. Posted by Picasa

Today's St. Patrick's 5 K Race Results

It was sunny and cold. But I made it -- 5 kilometres in 28 minutes and 28 seconds (the picture of my time was taken 10 second after crossing the finish line). To view the finish, click here. My dream goal was to go under 28 minutes even. But that's a good outcome for the first race of the season -- click here for the full race results. GG Posted by Picasa

Running Together -- Saturday March 18, 2006

What's green and runs? No. It's not a new St. Patrick's Day tee shirt in the washing machine. It's five guys going to Burlington on Saturday morning for the St. Patrick's 5 K Race!

Three of us are Gibson tribesmen -- Paul Gibson, Maxime Hamel (Rebecca Gibson's husband), and me. The other two are novice racers -- Dave McCann, the hope of glory for Brossard, QC and Jared Siebert, a bright and shiny star from Guelph, ON -- who have been attracted to this insane hobby by yours truly and plan to bust the finish line tape for the first time sometime beween 10:00 and 11:00 AM.

The on-line promo (http://www.events.runningroom.com/site/?raceId=1828) promises Irish dancers and green beer! But we'll just be happy to get our finishing time and a St. Patrick's Day tee shirt which, I expect, will run in the washing machine. Hopefully, we will run better than the tee shirt!

The results with photo will be posted on Sunday. GG

More on Stephanie After Her Accident

Stephanie's dad sent me this picture of the car after the accident. Here's the note that came with it.

"This is the car in which Stephanie was riding. Considering that she was in the left rear, it is nothing short of amazing that she got out alive. The car had just passed a transport truck in a snowstorm when her girl friend, Priscilla, lost control. As the car started to spin counter-clockwise, it was broadsided by the transport it had just passed. The third girl, Karina, was in the right rear. Priscilla had nary a scratch and Karina was black and blue, but otherwise okay."

Keep praying for Stephanie and her family during her time of recovery in hospital from multiple fractures and internal injuries. GG Posted by Picasa
