Helping Young Leaders -- Jared Siebert

I met Jared Siebert a few years ago while teaching Church Growth at Emmanuel Bible College in Kitchener. He went on to plant "Next", a new congregation in Kingston, Ontario. We reconnected when I began to work last year with his denomination, the Free Methodist Church in Canada. Following his appointment as their new national Director of Growth Ministries, they asked me to serve as Jared's mentor/coach for the balance of 2005. It's been a great pleasure to spend several days together this month. Pray for Jared as he gives national leadership to FMCiC church growth and planting initiatives and for me as I resource him in his work! Posted by Picasa

Race recovery time with running buddy, Ron Bonar. Ron crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 45:15. The bronze medalist in the next age category up from mine. Not bad for an old guy! Posted by Picasa

Here's proof that I made it! With just seconds to go (click on the picture to see the time clock). Feeling the pain, but lovin' it. Next goal? 10 K in under an hour ... October 16, 2005. Posted by Picasa

Progress Goal Reached!

This morning, I ran the EnduRace 8 K Run in Waterloo, Ontario. This was an important race to prepare for reaching my seasonal big goal in October of breaking the 60 minute barrier over 10 kilometres (6.2 miles). I had established a "progress goal" of running the 8 kilometres (5 miles) in under 50 minutes and was able to finish in a time of 49:46! On a hot day and a tough, hilly course, I was very pleased! For all the results of the race click here. Pictures to be posted shortly! GG
