Cool Runnings in Waterloo -- February 18, 2007

I recently ran my first race of the 2007 season -- the Refridgie-Eighter 8 K Run in Waterloo. I considered it a "spring training run" and was not shooting for a personal best. It was just a start to the season and a first winter racing experience for me. A time to learn.

It was cold (-11 degrees Celsius) and windy with a light fall of snow! The road was slippery, but it was fun. I was actually overdressed -- too many layers -- and felt a bit overcooked at the end! Dianne was present to shoot the photos as well as a finish line video. For the results, click here.

Next race? The St. Patrick's Day 5 K Race in Burlington, ON is penciled onto the schedule with my friend, Dave McCann -- nothing like a March 17 outing with an Irishman! The big target on the running horizon? Half marathon in Ottawa in May. GG
